Efficient and simple backup operations |
||
|
As the snapshots contain differentials in updated data of the original volumes, snapshot images on the disk need less space than those of the master volumes use. Therefore, it enables replication volumes to be utilized at low cost. There are no impacts on servers performance caused by creation of the snapshots in that the control operation to manage replication volumes is performed on NEC Storage. Operations to create snapshot volumes and restore can be done with both GUI of NEC Storage Manager and CLI. |

The following are descriptions of main functions of NEC Storage DynamicSnapVolume. |

|
Snapshots creation |
||
|
Creates replication of master volume (the snapshots) instantly. The maximum of 16 generations of snapshots can be made for one master volume. |
||

Snapshots deletion |
||
|
Deletes any generation of snapshots. By deleting unnecessary snapshot, effective utilization of the disk area is enabled. |

Restore from snapshots |
||
|
Master volume can be restored from any generations of snapshot volumes. |
||
|
Generation management of snapshot volumes |
||
|
Manages multiple snapshots' generations by using their creation times. It is possible to use the newest generation of snapshots constantly without concerning names of the logical disks. |

VSS cooperation |
